About Us
The Imanje Gang are made up of Avril Young and David Brien and their pets: 4 Rhodesian Ridgebacks, a harris hawk and ferrets.

Over the years, we have had a variety of animals share our lives; from hamsters to horses, lizards to tropical fish and we understand how hard it can be to find someone you can trust on an irregular (or even regular) basis, to come to your home and look after your animals while life takes over; be that work commitments or a family event!

Should you wish to take advantage of our services, we will arrange to meet you and your dog in your home in advance of our contract starting. We will discuss your requirements and your pet(s) needs and are open to any questions you may have.  We base our business on honesty and transparency.

We train all our animals using force free, positive reinforcement methods and enjoy a wide range of activities with our dogs: showing, trick training, tracking and scenting, so you can be assured that time spent with your animals will be fun and and we will ensure your animals are settled while you are out.  You can read more about us and our dogs on our Imanje
kennel website.

Avril is one of the founder members of  Edinburgh & District Canine Club , and past trainer with Broxburn & District Ringcraft Club: helping those interested in showing to prepare themselves and their dogs for the show ring.

In November 2017, Avril gained her Professional Canine Trainer (Accredited) (PCT-A) certification and also holds a Diploma in Animal Behaviour and a Puppy Training Diploma.  She is also a certified PDA Instructor, a certified Fun Scent Games Trainer and a Certified Scentwork UK trainer.

Avril is a Trainer with  Lothlorien Dog Services and currently assists with Adult Pet Dog Ambassador (PDA) classes, puppy classes, reactive rovers classes and various workshops including loose lead walking and tricks.  She currently leads the Scentwork UK classes at the Lothlorien DS Training Centre in Linlithgow.

Keen to keep her personal develpment ongoing, Avril attends regular workshops, seminars and talks from renowned positive reinforcement/force free trainers to keep up-to-date with modern training methods and their affect on our dogs; it is scientifically proven that animals, like us, need mental as well as physical stimulation.

As well as taking an active interest in our dogs well-being, David has been a falconer for many years and currently has a Harris Hawk - who although getting on in years, still likes to go out with our ferrets and take to the skies (or the trees when she is not in the mood!) while Avril has been involved in horses (riding others' and owning her own) since a child.  David has been a keen lizard keeper and has kept a number of fishtanks over the years

We hold Canine First Aid Certificates, are Disclosure Scotland (Police) checked, and have insurance to cover all our services.  We are also Full Members of the
Pet Professional Guild .  We will bring proof of all these certificates and more with us to our first visit.
